How to Plan a Morocco Itinerary: A First-Timer's Guide
The single most common question we get is: 'how many days do I need in Morocco?' The honest answer is that it depends on which regions you want to see, but here's a rough guide.
3-5 days
Enough for one city plus a desert excursion — for example a 3-day loop from Marrakech to Merzouga and back, or a one-way run between two cities such as our 3 days from Marrakech to Fes via the desert.
7-10 days
Enough to combine the south (Marrakech, the Atlas, the Sahara) with either the imperial cities (Fes, Meknes) or the Atlantic coast (Essaouira), without feeling rushed.
12-15 days
A genuine grand tour: imperial cities, the Sahara, the Atlas, and the coast, ideally starting and ending at the same airport — see our 15 day tour from Casablanca as an example.
Where to start
Start where you land. Most international flights arrive in Casablanca or Marrakech; if you're coming via Spain, Tangier is a natural entry point into the north.
