Leave Fes and continue toward Ifrane & Middle Atlas. Pass through Ifrane, Morocco's alpine-style 'Switzerland', and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, home to troops of Barbary macaques.
Midelt to Erfoud & Fossil Country
Leave Midelt and continue toward Erfoud & Fossil Country. Pass through Erfoud, centre of Morocco's fossil trade, on the edge of the Tafilalt palm oasis before the final approach to the dunes.
Merzouga & Erg Chebbi Dunes
Reach Merzouga on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Ride camels into the Sahara for sunset and spend the night in a desert camp under an open sky of stars.
Todra Gorge to Dades Valley
Leave Todra Gorge and continue toward Dades Valley. Drive through the Dades Valley, past rose gardens and rock formations locally called the 'monkey fingers', into the folded red cliffs of the Dades Gorges.
Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech
Leave Ait Ben Haddou and continue toward Marrakech. Pass through Ouarzazate, Morocco's 'door of the desert' and home to the Atlas Film Studios, with a stop at the Taourirt Kasbah. Explore the red-walled Medina: the winding alleys of the souks, the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace and the theatre of Jemaa el-Fna square as the food stalls and storytellers set up for the evening.
Imlil to Essaouira
Leave Imlil and continue toward Essaouira. Relax in Essaouira, a windswept Atlantic port city of blue-and-white alleys, 18th-century ramparts and fresh seafood grills on the port.
Casablanca
Drive back to Casablanca, marking the end of your tour. Transfer to your riad or straight to the airport, depending on your onward plans.
